How To Struggled with Dry Skin and Dandruff

Ayurvedic is an ancient medical system from India which empasizes more natural paths to healing through diet, massage and holistic remedies. It classifies individuals according to a metabolic body type or dosha. Each dosha is characterized by a combination of the earth's elements like fire, water, wind, etc. When your doshas are out of balance, ill health can occur. The three doshas are Vata, Pitta, and Kapha.

For most of my life I've struggled with dry skin and dandruff. I've gone through every cream and shampoo available on the market without any acceptable results. I started to look to diet and more alternative practices for help. I've realized that it is possible to find solutions to dry skin and dandruff through diet, in combination with other health models, such as the Eastern practice of Ayurvedic medicine.

Depending on what body type you are, you could be more prone to dry skin and dandruff. For example, a person with an imbalance in their Vata dosha is prone to dry skin. Various herbal rememdies and oils can help to restore balance to specific problems. With Vata, a regular body and scalp massage with sesame or sweet almond oil is recommended. For Pitta the oil would be coconut and for Kapha try olive oil. These can all be found in health food or grocery stores if you don't have a store that specializes in Ayurvedic remedies. You can also gently heat the oils in the microwave for a more intense moisturizer. Another great natural moisturizer is a mixture of egg yolks and honey.

In addition to topical remedies, you can also work on your body from the inside out. Diet has a great impact on dandruff. Try these following dietary tips:

-Cut back on sugar and yeast. Foods that contain high levels of these ingredients can encourage fungus growth that causes dandruff. Unfortunately, that includes beer and wine!

-Pack your diet full of B-vitamin, Omega 3 fatty acids, and zinc rich foods like egg yolks, fish, whole grains, bananas, avocados, nuts, seeds, flaxseed, and spinach. These nutrients help maintain healthy hair and skin and zinc is actually found in many anti-dandruff shampoos.

-Use a tea tree oil shampoo on your hair. This is a very popular natural product from Australia, and has been used as an antiseptic, antibiotic and antifungal agent. This is the only anti-dandruff shampoo that has worked for me!

These are only a few tips that can help to restore your body to optimal health. Ayuvedic medicine is as vast as the Western model requiring years of study and knowlege. I hope to have simply provided an introduction to a wide range of help available.

How To Choose The Right Clothes For Your Body Shape

With ever-changing fashion designs and trends, there is one thing that remains the same: dressing to complement your body shape will always make the biggest impression. Whether you are wearing last year’s skirt or this year’s dress, the way it fits your body is what makes you look fantastic or just ordinary.

It doesn’t matter if you have a pear-shaped body or a to-die-for hourglass figure, there are always certain styles of clothes that will flatter your body type. With a seemingly endless array of stylish accessory options and different clothing styles, you too can look and feel fabulous.

If you have been blessed with a pear-shaped figure, you are not alone! Your hips are set low and your thighs seem out of proportion to your upper body. With a less significant bust size and a typically pronounced waist, you should avoid anything that attracts extra attention to your hips, including blouses or jackets that sit directly on your waist. By shifting the attention to your bust with fitted tops, you will move attention from your trouble areas below and appear more proportional to the rest of your body. Don’t forget to accessorize to complement your look! A subtle necklace and a short hanging bag can perfect your outfit and bring more attention to your upper body. With the faultless pairing of the right clothes and accessories, your outfit will look like it has been tailored to fit and you will be ready to impress even the most stylish divas.

With hips to love and a full bust, women with the classic hourglass figure are in luck. If your body resembles that of Salma Heyak or Tyra Banks, you are one of the eight percent of American women that have been fortunate enough to inherit the curves that most women dream of! When dressing for an hourglass figure, it is important to flaunt those curves and remember that over seventy five percent of fashion designers tailor their clothing to fit this classic shape, making it a breeze to find the right fit for you. Wearing clothes that skim your body, and are not too tight and not too loose, will flatter your form and make the most of your body. Accessorize with belts and tops that tie at the waist and your outfit (and body!) will be runway ready.

Women with an undefined waist and a straight body shape should show off their slender legs and highlight the best aspects of their lean body. Wearing skirts and dresses that lengthen the appearance of the torso flatter this body type. Pair fashionable dresses with a longer overcoat and your body will appear long, lean and fit. Wearing V-neck shirts or tops with a low collar will elongate your neck and draw attention to your most helpful assets. With a straight body shape, you can detract attention from your waist and hips by avoiding belts and any dresses or shirts that gather at the waist. To make your legs appear even longer, add stylish pumps or pointy high heels to perfect your outfit.

If you have inherited a round body figure with a voluptuous bust, narrow hips and a round tummy, there is no need to shy away from chic styles. Celebrities like Kate Winslet have become fashion icons with their voluptuous bodies and you can too. With characteristically lean legs, rounder types will find that their best bet lies with showing off their legs and shapely hips. Wearing tops with a longer neckline and avoiding broad collars and polo necks can diminish attention from your full bust and can help your neck appear extra lean. Wear attractive tunics and steer clear of tight fitting clothing so that your round stomach will seem lean and fit while drawing attention to your trim legs. Accessorize your outfit with narrow belts that blend with the color of your outfit and you will be model ready in no time.

With simple changes to your outfit, your body shape fears can be a thing of the past. Always remember to accentuate your best features to detract from your most troublesome areas and you will be an exemplary model of first-class fashion.

Spa Treatments: What's So Great about Body Wraps?

By Cherisa Chapa

"Lose inches today from our exclusive body wrap," proclaims the spa manager. "Body wraps don't really help you lose weight", whispers your friend. So who are you to believe? Actually, both comments are correct.

What is a Body Wrap?

A body wrap treatment may vary depending on where you are receiving your treatment and what type of result that you are trying to achieve. Body wraps are generally great at hydrating the skin, riding the body of toxins, and helping to lose inches in water weight. The primarily product used in a body wrap usually consists of either mud, clay, algae, seaweed, lotion, cream or aloe with essential oils and/or herbs designed to revitalize the body.

This product is applied to the body - except the genital and breast areas which are covered - and then you are wrapped in a Mylar sheet, plastic sheet, towels, or linen sheets depending upon the service. A contouring wrap will use bandages or a tightly wrapped sheet instead. Your body will generate heat and warmth while you are wrapped for twenty minutes as this allows time for the product to be absorbed into your body for the maximum effect.

The body wrap may help improve circulation, stimulate the metabolic system, increases the body's ability to carry waste products for elimination, and assist with skin care issues. It can also give the skin a very healthy, vibrant look. The time spent wrapped is great for stress and tension reduction.

Preparing for the Wrap

Medical precautions for all body wraps (as with any body treatments) are recommended. Regardless of your health, take note of the products that used as some products for wraps include high concentrations of essential oils; some of which are not recommended for those who are diabetic and those with high blood pressure. Also any product that includes algae may increase the risk of an allergic reaction for those that have sensitivity towards iodine. Other products such as coconut, almonds, and many others are also used in body wrap products. If you have any concerns in regards to the product to be used in the wrap, consult with your treatment profession prior to the treatment. Of course, you should discuss any of these concerns or questions with your primarily health care provider prior to receiving any treatments.

If you tend to be claustrophobic, this may not be the treatment for you. Some individuals have found that not having the feet and upper chest area covered (which should be done for individuals who have high blood pressure) aids in reducing any claustrophobic effects.

While you are wrapped for the twenty minutes, you may be alone in a dark room. If this bothers you, please let your treatment professional know so you can be accommodated. (I personally love spending this time receiving a facial massage.)

Getting Wrapped

In general terms, a basic body wrap is usually in a wet room where the table used is designed to get wet or the room is equipped with a shower of some sort. The type of equipment will depend upon the spa or treatment professional.

You will need to completely undress for a body wrap. However, your personal dignity will be protected by either disposable undergarments or the treatment professional will use the placement of towels to cover the areas not worked. You may be lying either on a sheet, towel, a thin piece of plastic or a Mylar sheet.

The treatment will begin with a dry exfoliation scrubbing technique used to remove any dead skin cells and for preparing the skin for the body wrap product. This product will then be applied to the body much in the same fashion as a body scrub or massage and can be brushed on the body similar to being painted with a paint brush. You will then be wrapped by the sheet, towel, plastic or Mylar sheet and perhaps a blanket for twenty minutes.

Once the twenty minutes are over, the treatment professional will quickly unwrap you since your skin will feel very cool. Then you may be rinsed to remove any excess product by the treatment professional or will be allowed to take a brief shower (where you will not want to wash strongly with soap to allow the product to continue to be absorbed into the body).

The body wrap will then conclude with an application of warm cream or lotion to hydrate the body.

Enjoying your Wrap

After receiving your body wrap, you will want to avoid any excessive exercise, such as working out at the gym and you may need to restrict your sun exposure depending upon the product used during your treatment. If you have any concerns of the after affects, check with your treatment professional or spa coordinator.

Many individuals are delighted with the overall sense of well-being and relaxation that they feel after a body wrap, especially if they had it followed with a massage. This experience is very difficult to articulate into words. If you have never received a body wrap before, I hope that you try it. It is an experience that must be enjoyed personally.

11 Skin-Care Tips: Keep Stunning in Your 30s age

Stay Beautiful in Your 30s

Aging, career highs and lows, even pregnancy can lead to some changes in your complexion and well-being. You may start noticing a few fine lines around the eyes and mouth, dullness in your skin, or adult acne.

Problem: Wrinkles around the eyes

The eyes have it - thinner, more-sensitive skin, that is. While regular facial moisturizers can keep the skin supple, eye creams usually contain lower concentrations of active ingredients and fewer preservatives, so they are gentler.

Make sure the cream you choose includes the basics, such as sunscreen and antioxidants. If you need a little extra help, look for ingredients like caffeine and magnolia extract to reduce puffiness; coneflower to cool and soothe or vitamin K to lessen dark under-eye circles.

Skin care is retarding the ageing process. Here are a few tips for proactive anti-aging skin care:

1. Exfoliate. The 30s is the decade when cell turnover begins to slow down, leading to dull, uneven skin tone. Counter this with regular exfoliation and moisturizing treatments that contain alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs)

2. See spot treatments. Pregnancy may cause hormonal upheavals that can result in melasma, also called “mask of pregnancy” ( dark patches on the skin). Use gentle skin- lightening products that can contain vitamin C and licorice extract.

3. Take your vitamins. A single multivitamin provides you most of the vitamins and minerals you need. Doctors may also recommend calcium supplements.

4. Get moving. Strengthen your bones and muscles with weight training.

5. Drink a lot of water: Skin care can't be any simpler than this. Water helps in flushing out the toxins from the body, hence keeping it clean and making it less prone to disease. Around 8 glasses of water (per day) is recommended by all doctors.

6. Avoid the use of strong, chemical based products on your skin. Natural skin care products are a good option. Use of organic skin care products (home made or commercial) can be a very effective anti-aging skin care measure.

7. Keep your makeup clean. Replace the sponges in your compact on a regular basis. Now and then, toss the whole works and start fresh -- the average shelf life for cosmetics is 6 to 12 months. Don't buy products so expensive that you'll be heartbroken if you have to throw them away.

8. Do not overuse skin care products. Excessive and harsh application, both are harmful.

9. Protect yourself from the sun -- use sunscreen and avoid direct sunlight between the hours of 10 and 2.

10. Don't -- I repeat -- don't smoke. Your skin is a large organ and it needs a lot of circulation. Smoking impairs that dramatically. That's why smokers' skin looks dull and gray. Instead of having oxy-generated blood delivered to the surface of the skin, they're getting poisons and oxidants.

11. Many studies have been done over the years demonstrating the healing and physiological properties of bovine colostrum. Colostrum helps the immune system to function more efficiently, maintain peak performance and fight acne causing bacteria.

Colostrum supplies growth factors (hormones) as well as stimulating the endocrine system to keep producing its own supply of hormones. Research strongly indicates that the combination of growth and immune factors in colostrum works together to create a potent anti-aging effect, including tighter skin, and regrowth of cells and tissue of organs that normally decrease in size with age.

Daily supplementation on Bovine Colostrum allows the body to have improved resilience against any type of stress. Overall health and well being is accomplished when the body has all of the necessary factors it needs for defense, healing and repair.

If you have special skin issues, such as stubborn acne, rosacea, or extremely sensitive or oily skin, the best thing to do is to seek out the advice of a professional dermatologist.

Pretty, healthy skin is well within your grasp, with a little bit of awareness, determination and persistence on your part. The results are definitely worth it. Live juicy and be happy with your largest organ!

Note: None of the information in this article is scientifically based, but it does work, based on the personal experiences of myself and many others.

Liposuction

By: Barry Lycka

They say the popularity of reality television shows like ABC TV's "Extreme Makeover" has led to an increasing boom in cosmetic surgery. You may be one of the many people who are not happy with the way you look. Look in the mirror right now and tell me what you see. Do you see flabby thighs, a sagging chin or a tubby tummy? If so, then liposuction could be just what the doctor ordered.

What Is Liposuction?
Liposuction is also known in the medical arena as lipoplasty or liposculture or "lipo" for short. Lipo surgically removes excess fat from deposits beneath the skin in many areas of the body. The procedure sounds like it hurts.

How Does It Work?
Surgeons use a hollow stainless steel tube called a cannula. The cannula is hooked up to a vacuum. It is inserted into an incision in the skin. Fat deposits are then gently sucked out of the body.

Does It Hurt?
"It didn't hurt at all," says 25-Year old Jenn Rogers. Rogers is the mother of three year old twins. She decided to have lipo to get her post baby abdomen back. She says, "I tried so hard through exercise and diet to do it. But, nothing I tried would work."
Is It Popular And If It Is, Why?

Liposuction is quickly becoming one of the most popular forms of cosmetic surgery for that very reason. It targets the areas of fat we'd like to shoot away. It is commonly used to reduce fat in the abdomen, hips, butt, thighs, chin, neck, back, chest and arms. Can you believe that doctors also use lipo on the knees, ankles and calves? As you can see, liposuction will work on just about anywhere you see fat and want to hide it!

It sounds like it hurts, doesn't it?

Well, the amount of pain depends on individual circumstances. Liposuction can be achieved painlessly by local or general anesthesia. However doctors consider liposuction a mild surgical procedure. It is performed using a general or local anesthesia. A heavy IV sedation is also used in some cases. Recent advances have done a lot to ease the pain. Doctors can now precisely target fat areas which help to reduce recovery times. Despite the recent popularity, lipo has actually been around for more than a decade.
"I had my first liposuction in 1992. It was before anyone even knew about it. I wanted to reduce the signs of aging in my face," says retired school teacher, 69 Year Old Rebecca Long. The grandmother of three has had three additional procedures since then. She laughs, "People now confuse my daughter with being my sister. I don't know if that's good for her, or bad!"

How Do I Make A Decison?
You may be wondering whether liposuction is for you. Some folks figure if they have the greenbacks then they can do it. But, whether you have the money to pay for it is just one of the factors you should consider. It is important that a surgeon be board certified for the technique that they are going to use. You'll want to look at his or her experience and safety record.

Are There Risks?
Liposuction is not risk free. There are many things that can go wrong. Complications can occur due to a poor judgment on the part of the doctor. The better educated you are on the procedure, the greater you chances of spotting a problem before it occurs. You should be concerned about disfiguring skin irregularities that can occur if the surgeon tries to take too much fat away in one procedure. The use of a large cannula can also affect the outcome of your procedure.

Large cannula's remove fat quickly. However, they are more likely to lead to skin irregularities then small cannulas do. Small cannulas are less than 3 millimeters in diameter. There's a strong chance you'll need a large cannula depending on the amount of fat you need taken away.

Surgeons use the small cannula's during the Tumescent Procedure. The American Medical Association says this technique when used with local anesthesia is the safest. Under this method, the diluted local anesthesia lasts for hours reducing the need for narcotic pain relief. Doctors say there have been no reported deaths under this procedure. In addition, even if it's used with general anesthesia, Tumescent Procedure is safe if there's no large fat removal.
There is another surgical method that utilizes a modified version of the Tumescent Procedure. This modified version combines local anesthesia with general anesthesia or IV sedation. General anesthesia and IV sedation may be dangerous when used alone, just imagine the danger when they're put together. As a result, an anesthesiologist must be on hand to handle the administration.

You'll also want to make sure that you don't have any other surgical procedures the same day as your liposuction. You'll want to avoid long term exposure to anesthesia because it's dangerous. Taking away a large amount of fat can lead to serious complications. Also, removing an excessive amount from too many areas can also be dangerous. You'll also want to make sure that you don't have any other surgical procedures the same day as your liposuction. Healing can occur quickly thanks to all the advances in liposuction.

Liposuction recovery times are shorter today than a couple of decades ago. You can return to a normal lifestyle within four after surgery with most procedures. However, a little bit of local anesthetic remains in your system. It is later absorbed into the blood stream. Would you believe that draining the anesthetic solution out of your incision actually speeds your rate of healing? It also reduces swelling and bruising after surgery.

Drainage is also speeded up by leaving the incisions open instead of closing with sutures. Your surgeon can also make tiny holes in your skin to force drainage. Your surgeon may also encourage you to spandex clothes to promote more drainage. Your surgeon can also drain it through absorptive pads that are placed over your incisions. Despite the surgical concerns, liposuction is changing lives like Jenn and Rebecca's. It can improve body posture and image ultimately leading to a happier, healthier, you.

Who Do I Contact To Find A Good Surgeon?
The Ethical Cosmetic Surgery Association, The American Sociaty of Dermatologic Surgeons or the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

    Skin Speak Volumes

Skin that is healthy, smooth and radiant would have to derive from proper and attentive care. Your skin could convey its wishes, its needs for nutrition and concern.

Now listen to its voice, pamper it with timely care, and your skin will maintain its very best condition always. Balance: The First Criterion for Perfect Skin

At the crux of the latest global beauty concepts, lies the need for skin balance, which is the first criterion for perfect skin. Here, "balance" refers to the natural physiological functions of the skin, such as regulation of moisture, oil secretion, sensitive reactions and organisational structures. Only when these four areas are regulated and balanced, can the skin present its very best. Conversely, if there is an imbalance in the four factors, the skin will develop problems accordingly.

    Warning Level 1 :
Dryness, lack of moisture, slight peeling, dry wrinkles

    Skin's Revelation:
Functional imbalance in regulation of moisture

    The Best Solution:
    Emergency replenishment of moisture

    Suggested Method:
Give skin the ample moisturising nutrition it needs. Choose special moisturising skincare products that contain natural minerals, effective moisture-replenishing factors, natural compound vitamins, collagen, etc.

    Warning Level 2:
Insufficient or excessive oil, whiteheads, blackheads, acne

    Skin's Revelation:
    Functional imbalance in oil secretion

    The Best Solution:
    Balance oil secretion

    Suggested Method:
Choose skincare products that have oil-absorption, inflammation-reduction and germ-elimination properties. For skin that secretes excessive oil, take care of cleanliness and inflammation reduction.

    Warning Level 3:
Sagging, signs of aging such as wrinkles

    Skin's Revelation:
    Functional imbalance in organisational structure

    The Best Solution:
    Emergency replenishment of nutrients

    Suggested Method:
Focus on the replenishment of effective anti-wrinkle and skin-firming ingredients, such as amino acids, various vitamins, protein essences, etc, so as to enhance skin metabolism and restore its natural vitality within the shortest time.

    Warning Level 4:
    Weakness, itch, red spots

    Skin's Revelation:
    Functional imbalance in sensitive reactions

    The Best Strategy:
    Emergency desensitisation

    Suggested Method:
Conduct a self-diagnosis first. If the condition is mild, nurse it using Bel'Air's prescription. If the condition is severe, involving burns or abnormal swelling, consult a doctor or specialist.

    Listen-up to Your Skin
Some of the warning levels that will be sounded when a problem in skin balance occurs. Usually, the prologue will take the form of itch. When your skin gives the signal for help, it is time to give it the nutrition and moisture it needs. In this way, you can effectively maintain your skin at a state of healthy and optimum balance. So, when your skin sounds the warning signal for imbalance, don't ever neglect it. Putting the balance back into your skin will ensure its radiance and beauty!

    Facial Skin Care Tips

With all the skin care tips and information today, you might think it's very confusing! All you want is what is best for your skin. It may be overwhelming for you to try to keep up with the constantly evolving technology.

Skin care tip #1 - your skin is unique. If your best friend uses "the most powerful product," it may do nothing for you, or you might even have a reaction to it.

Before you consider buying any over-the-counter skin care products, there are a few basic facts about your skin you must know. These include:

Your skin type. It is oily, dry, normal, sensitive, or a combination?

Your skin complexion. Do you have fair skin that burns easily or light to medium that may burn? Or do you have a medium tone that usually tans or a darker complexion the only rarely burns? Or is your complexion so dark that you never burn?

Your skin concerns. Do you want preventative maintenance to avoid premature aging? Do you have a skin problem, such as persistent acne, age spots, melasma or rosacea? You may also have large pores, sun damage, facial wrinkles or fine lines that require special attention. Do you have eye puffiness or under eye bags that will require special care?

Your personal habits. Are you a smoker? Do you spend a lot of time in the sun? Do you take a daily vitamin? Do you consume a well-balanced diet? All these factors will affect how you should care for your skin.

Skin care tip #2 ? one of the most essential beauty building blocks is one?s physical health. You should incorporate some simple, but very positive lifestyle habits as: exercise, water drinking and nutritious eating.

Skin care tip #3 ? The basic steps to a flawless face consist of two key elements: cleansing and moisturizing on a regular basis.

Mike Zanov received his medical doctor degree at the age of 25 at St. Pitersburg University in Russia and then completed dermatology training there. Now he is a practicing dermatologist.

How Much Water You Drink ?

    By Morgan Bailey

Water is essential, especially if you are trying to lose weight. Here are some easy ways to meet your daily requirement.

    Water Is Essential
Water is one of the most important elements of the human body. It makes up approximately 70 percent of our muscles, and about 75 percent of our brains. It is also an essential part of a healthy diet and plays a vital role in the proper functioning of the body.

    Some of water's many benefits:
    * Helps maintain adequate blood volume
    * Helps regulate body temperature, especially in warm weather
    * Helps prevent constipation
    * Helps medications to work
    * Acts as a lubricant for the body, moistening eyes, mouth, nose, and skin
    * Acts as an appetite suppressant
    * Is calorie-free
    * Helps prevent urinary tract infections
    * Transports essential nutrients throughout the body and rids the body of waste
    * Boosts metabolism when drunk cold (we burn 2 calories per glass as we warm it up to body temperature)

    A Dieter's Dream
Drinking water also forces fat to be used as fuel. How does this work? Without water, the kidneys are unable to function properly, so the liver picks up the slack. But the liver cannot properly metabolize stored fat as energy.

The result is a decrease in fat metabolism, leading to more fat stored in the body. So, drinking lots of water helps avoid extra fat deposits.

    How Much Do You Need?
The standard advice from nutritionists is to get at least 64 ounces of water daily. This is called the 8 x 8 rule (eight 8-ounce glasses). If you are trying to lose weight, it is especially important to stay hydrated. A good rule of thumb, experts say, is to drink half your daily water consumption between the time you wake up and lunch, and the other half between lunch and bedtime.

If you are exercising, you might want to drink a bit more. Drink 8-10 ounces approximately 30 minutes before exercising. You should also drink some water while exercising; about 3-4 ounces every 15 minutes.

Finally, when you're through exercising, drink another 8-10 ounces to make up for the water you lose through prespiration.

Healthy adults of all ages need at least 8 cups of water every day. Children should have 6-8 servings, but the serving size depends upon the child's age. For children age 2 and under, a serving is half a cup; for kids age 3-5, it's 3/4 cup. For kids 6 and up, a serving is one cup.

Skin Damage Control for Upper Arms

Telltale signs: The skin can become freckled and loose. (The triceps area is a fat depot in women.) The elbows may become rough.

    At-Home Solutions
Smooth it out: To ease roughness, try a product containing alpha- and beta-hydroxy acids, such as Neutrogena Skin Smoothing Body Lotion.

Conquer darker spots: Combine a glycolic acid lotion with a hydroquinone fade cream (such as Glyquin Cream; about $75/tube). You should notice results in six weeks.

Muscle up: Combining arm-firming moves (triceps dips, triceps pushups) along with regular cardio can really trim and tone this area.

A dermatologist can... Cream away browning: Tazorac Cream (about $100/tube), a strong prescription retinoid, lightens spots usually in about six weeks.

Laser stubborn spots: The Sinon or the diode laser can remove even the darkest, largest spots, often in a single treatment ($500-$1,000).

    Fiber and Constipation

A diet with 40 grams of fiber provides protection and prevention against diseases such as kidney stones, varicose veins, obesity, heart disease, appendicitis, colon disease, diabetes, appendicitis, diverticulitis, and constipation.

When you eat fiber, it passes into your colon without getting digested in the small intestine. The good bacteria will use some of it as food, which makes them stronger, able to multiply, and keep bad bacteria in check.

Eating fiber reduces your fecal matter transit time from 3 days to 1 1/ 2 - 2days.

All processed foods, such as white flour products, have little or no fiber. Fiber is removed when various natural flours or grains are processed to make junk food. During this processing, nutrients, vitamins, and minerals are also removed. Only plant foods and lightly processed grains have fiber of varying amounts.

Foods that are "fortified" with vitamins and minerals are unbalance and unhealthy since manufacturers cannot replace all the nutrients the food once had.

Fiber, bulk, or roughage, is one of the main nutrients you need to eat daily to relieve and prevent constipation and prevent many other diseases. Most fiber is fermented in your colon and provides some energy for the body. Fiber has two forms - soluble and insoluble.

    Soluble Fiber

Soluble Fiber become gummy and viscous after it dissolves in water.

Soluble fiber has the ability to slow down digestion in the small intestine and prevent simple sugars from entering the bloodstream right away.

Because it absorbs water, soluble fiber softens and gives weight to fecal matter, and this makes fecal matter easier to pass through your colon.

Soluble fiber consists of pectin, gum, and mucilage. Pectin is found in carrots, apples, beets, cabbage, citrus fruits, and bananas. Gums and mucilage are found in oat bran, sesame seeds, oats, oatmeal, legumes, guar gum, and gum arabic

Besides helping prevent constipation, soluble fiber provides the following benefits.

    · reduces the risk of heart disease
    · reduces the risk of gallstones
    · helps to remove toxic heavy metals and toxins from your colon
    · helps to prevent the toxic condition call appendicitis
    · regulates movement of sugar into the bloodstream
    · helps to prevent hemorrhoids and fissures
    · lowers cholesterol
    · lowers absorption of fats in the intestines
    · and most importantly, help prevent the overgrowth of bad bacteria in your colon.

    Insoluble Fiber

Insoluble fiber does not dissolve in water and consists of cellulose, hemi cellulose, and lignin. This type of fiber is extremely beneficial to your health. Because your body's enzymes cannot break down this fiber, like it does food, it remains in tack as it travels through your intestines and colon.

Insoluble fiber helps fecal matter travel faster through the small intestine and your colon and thereby prevents constipation.

It provides bulk to your fecal matter. It makes your stools larger, softer, and stimulates peristaltic movement as it touches your colon walls.

Insoluble fiber, like soluble fiber, slows down digestion. It also slows down absorption of protein, starch and fat and has the ability to inhibit the action of digestive enzymes.

Insoluble fibers are found in vegetables, wheat, and wheat bran. This type of fiber is considered an anti-carcinogen and a digestive aid. It is credited with preventing colon cancer and many other colon diseases.

You body needs soluble and insoluble fiber to help relieve and prevent constipation. It also helps to prevent many other diseases. Start adding more fiber to your diet and gain the benefits of better health.
